# about motd's

MOTD's are fun. You should definitely invest in as much time in the MOTD, or more, as you do on selecting the name of a server.

## How to start creating an MOTD

First, visit [*the* website for generating ASCII text](http://patorjk.com/software/taag/#p=display&f=Small)

Make sure you select a human readable font.

Add some imagery and other stuff

## Example MOTD's

#### Odin

Odin is the parallel for `polaris.clarkson.edu` from before the new polaris1 update made polaris feasible to use again. Here's the default MOTD we have.

Resizing the disk directly after an assignment due date. I'd say we took backups, but you should call them RESTORES for luck.
